FOR VOLUME FLOWS FROM 1 ΜL/H TO 2’400 L/MIN. Precise dosing means measuring the flow of liquid and adding or injecting it into a main pipe or pressure pipe in a controlled manner. The pump is controlled, in a so-called "closed-loop control", via a flow meter. The accurate dosing of liquids is becoming increasingly important in modern chemical processes. Chemical companies are achieving increasing success with the production of specialty chemicals and specialty polymers. To produce these products, dosing additives is often essential. Additives add special properties and/or are necessary for an efficient reaction. ACCURATE AND PULSATION-FREE DOSING Gear pumps, which are characterized by high volumetric efficiency (due to their small clearances), are very suitable for dosing applications. Even for low viscous products such as solvents, alcohol or liquefied gas, gear pumps can be used for accurate and pulsation-free dosing. GEAR PUMPS Gear pumps are modular in construction and can therefore be adapted to the specific properties of the liquid to be pumped. Ideal for the chemical industry because the right materials for the pump housing and the internal parts can be selected for each application. Thanks to this modular construction, the pump materials are not only optimally matched to the chemical properties of the dosed product, but also adapted to the typical process data such as viscosity, operating temperature. HOW THEY CONTRIBUTE TO SAFETY, PRECISION AND EFFICIENCY Not surprisingly, the pharmaceutical industry places high demands on its production. The end product must always be safe and effective and waste of costly APIs must be avoided as much as possible. Pumps play an important role in the production of medicines, for example in the accurate dosing of additives. Gear pumps are a logical choice because of their precision, reliability, and safety. IMPROVED QUALITY OF YOUR END PRODUCT One of the advantages of gear pumps is their precision, which is critical to the quality of the final product. The amount of liquid that is pumped can be precisely controlled and adapted to the specific requirements of a production process. This ensures that no precious ingredients are wasted. In addition, gear pumps are characterized by a continuous, pulsation-free dosage and "low shear stress", which also contributes to the quality of the product. RELIABLE AND SAFE Gear pumps are highly reliable and durable because they are specifically configured for the application and are made of high-quality materials that are resistant to corrosion and wear. They are suitable for use in demanding environments, such as clean rooms. In addition, magnet-coupled gear pumps are hermetically sealed, preventing leakage of chemical additives. They are designed to meet the highest hygiene and quality requirements and can be thoroughly cleaned without disassembly. New Manhole Covers from Zorzini are the perfect solution!
It is a tough choice: do you go for a cover with a high neck or still a loose cover? Both have their downsides. For instance, manhole covers with a high neck retain a lot of product residues. The disadvantage of a loose cover is that it has a less solid construction. Fortunately, Zorzini has created the solution for anyone experiencing this problem! A few weeks ago, Willem and Nienke flew to Milan to visit the Simei wine fair. Several new products were presented here, including Zorzini's new manhole covers. These rectangular covers contain a flat neck (frame) instead of a high neck. This makes choosing the right cover significantly easier! Only benefits Whereas high neck covers range from 40 to 100 millimetres frame height, the latest Zorzini manhole cover has only 10 or 12 millimetres height. The cover protrudes minimally and the production process is a lot more hygienic unlike the high neck covers. This is because the surface area is smaller. As a result, less product residues remains inside the frame. In addition, the new manhole covers have a more solid construction and are easier to assemble compared to loose covers. Emerson’s New Emergency Shutdown Discrete Valve Controller Improves Safety, Uptime in Hazardous Applications
TopWorx DX Partial Stroke Test with HART 7 provides detailed valve assembly data and diagnostics, enabling predictive maintenance and reliable operation. Emerson introduces the TopWorxTM DX PST with HART 7. Units provide valuable valve data and diagnostic information, enabling the digital transformation of process applications. The new DX PST integrates seamlessly with existing valves and control systems, giving operators access to critical valve data, trends, and diagnostics that can be used to predict and schedule maintenance. The DX PST’s partial stroke test ensures the system’s reliable function without shutting down the process. A safety feature that confirms the valve will fully close and stop the process if an emergency is detected, and the test is activated by simply pressing the local PST button — no additional equipment is required. To prevent critical failure in upset conditions, the unit will override testing to perform an emergency shutdown (ESD). Certified for operation in harsh and hazardous applications, the adaptive DX PST is designed to ensure the integrity of valves, improving overall safety and facility uptime in oil and gas, refinery, “The digital transformation of the process industry continues to make operations safer and more productive,” said Prayag Vatsraj, global product manager at Emerson’s Switchbox. “The DX PST with HART 7 supports digital transformation by providing reliable data that delivers valuable insight into the condition of valve assemblies that ensures the integrity of the system without shutting down the process.” The HART protocol, the specifications of which are owned by the FieldComm Group, builds another layer of information that ensures data, trends, and diagnostics are monitored and tied into the Industrial Internet of Things. This information can be used to effectively predict and schedule maintenance. Capable of Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL 3), the DX PST is available with an integrated 2oo2 or 2oo3 solenoid valve redundancy when paired with ASCO Series Advanced Redundant Control System (ARCS) to further enhance safety and open terminals that allow an additional pressure transmitter along with two pressure switches. The discrete valve controller offers simple local and remote calibration.

Prevent waste of APIs with a GMP-adapted micro dosing system. It succeeded with united forces. An important player in the pharmaceutical industry had long been familiar with the application of the highly accurate and pulsation-free micropumps of HNP Mikrosysteme on a laboratory scale. In the course of time, people came up with more and more far-reaching questions and demands. For the very accurate dosing of 2 products, 2 micro dosing systems in accordance with GMP were eventually requested. But HNPM's systems are not standardized on GMP. GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) To comply with GMP, quite a few requirements are set. Both to the materials used and the roughness of the surface and to the cleanability of the dosing system. Because contamination is undesirable and not even allowed. The ultimate goal of GMP is to always guarantee the same high quality product, without risk of cross-contamination by residual product in one of the components of the process equipment. GMP provides for several procedures and guidelines. The purpose of the procedures is to make each component traceable. All batches must be validated. This means that these are recorded with certificates. For laboratories, this means that DIN is used as a guideline. This is a European directive. This also immediately complies with CE. Only a carefully recorded and controlled production process ensures the quality of a medicine. HNPM's standard micro dosing systems do not comply with GMP. To achieve this, adjustments had to be made. OUR SOLUTION To prevent remaining material in the dosing system and not using an unnecessary amount of API, the standard system has been adapted on several fronts. A special flow meter was also selected that complies with GMP. * Surface roughness The standard material roughness of HNPM micropumps is Ra 0.8 μm. The customer asked for a surface roughness of only Ra 0.5 μm. This roughness is not possible everywhere. In the present case, a surface roughness of Ra≤0.8 was feasible for both filter and pump. A Ra 0.8 μm is actually quite exceptional and was more than sufficient for a GMP application. A roughness of 0.8 μm was therefore agreed. The best (smoothest) we could deliver at that time. * New type of filter developed with small internal volume (7ml) HNPM developed a new type of filter, the FM10, with a smaller internal volume compared to other standard filters of HNPM (FM12 = 36ml, FM10 = 7ml). The Ra of the filter, like the one for the pump, was 0.8 μm. The advantage of this new filter is that it can be easily cleaned. Both CIP and SIP! * Adjustment NPT connections (fittings) The NPT fittings have been adapted to fittings without corners and dead volume so that they can be easily cleaned and sterilized. * PEEK tubing with internal diameter of only 1.8mm! A type of tubing was used with a smaller internal diameter. The original tubing: Internal diameter 4mm, external diameter 6mm The new tubing: Internal diameter 1.8mm, external diameter 2mm. The advantage of this is that less API has to be used (less API waste!). In addition, this gives an improved volume flow and ensures faster and more efficient rinsing. * Documentation Inspection documentation was made available for the wetted parts: 1. Pump/ filter/ flow meter 2. Tubing/ connections/ adapters/ seals 3. Hoses For the metal products, 3.1 certificates and the Declaration of compliance 2.1 (DIN EN 10204:2005) have been delivered. Summarized 1. The system has a perfect surface roughness of Ra 0.8 μm 2. Use of FDA approved materials 3. All necessary certificates are available 4. CIP and SIP cleanable 5. Accurate and pulsation-free flow, independent of differential pressure and volume flow! With the adjustments and documentation made, the dosing system now perfectly complies with GMP! An economical and safe solution, also for your process! Fully validated according to GMP. DEMANDING PROCESSES, SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS
