Cleaning of containers and tanks with latex or resins remnants is not always an easy job. Especially when the product has been in contact with oxygen. Then the hardened product sticks to the walls of the tanks and is very hard to get rid of.
Most current systems are based upon recirculation of lye and water at approx. 85°C and a pressure of 8-9 bar. This clears away most of the encrusted deposits, but it still needs manual work (polishing, scrubbing) for the last bits of remnants.
The EFTCO Cleaning Codes are quite demanding on the definition of ‘’clean’’. No visual traces of the last product may be present. This means that with the current recirculation systems, cleaning still takes a lot of time.
Together with a leading tankcleaning company, PromoTec have developed a new concept for latex/ resin cleaning. Based upon the well known recirculation system but with pump pressures of approx. 70 bar.
The combination of high pressure, cleaning liquid (paint stripper) and high temperature results in amazingly short cleaning times. In some cases more than 50% shorter than current cleaning times. With this system absolutely no remnants stay behind on the walls, leaving the tank / container spotless clean.
With PromoTec’s concept, time consuming polishing or scrubbing belong to the past. For fleetmanagers this offers great advantages, because damage to their tanks/containers is reduced to nil. Thus tanks have longer life times and repairs are no longer necessary.
It also offers the option to use tanks of thinner (and lighter) material. Apart from the savings from the PromoTec cleaning concept, this also adds in cost reductions when buying new material and in use of petrol (lighter trucks).
In this innovative concept a return/ stripping pump (same as in existing recirculation systems) is being used, as well as a 3M Pumps magnet driven boosterpump and a Wanner Hydra-Cell high pressure pump. Both sealless pumps have been adapted by PromoTec and are able to pump the aggressive cleaning liquid without cooling to a temperature of 95°C. Both pumps require very little maintenance and guarantee a safe (absolutely no leakage !) operation of the installation.
