Spectacle flanges are used in combination with a connecting flange to (temporarily) close off ducts by applying the connecting flange between two duct parts. When the exchange frequency is higher, a combination is often used of connecting flanges and spectacle flanges, which are applied alternatingly. The connecting flange closes the duct and the spectacle flange provides a connecting duct.
