In the past SattLine Foocos 2 and Foocos 3 have been applied a lot in Food & Beverage industries. ABB has succeeded SattLine with ABB System 800xA and made a new version of Foocos for this platform. The successor of Foocos is called ProBase and is compatible with the newest versions of ABB System 800xA and Windows. For most plants it is not possible to make the transition from SattLine to ABB System 800xA in one big upgrade because the process will not allow it or the plant simply cannot be stopped for a long period of time. Because of these reasons the transition to ABB System 800xA is often not made.
To ease the transition from SattLine to ABB System 800xA IAS Industrial Automation has created a link which makes it possible to connect existing SattLine Foocos systems to the new ABB System 800xA application. In that way it is possible to make the transition to ABB System 800xA in phases or, for example, build a new application in ABB System 800xA while the existing SattLine Foocos system remains active.
With the link it is possible to, for example, have a source tank in SattLine Foocos and have the corresponding line and destination tanks in ABB System 800xA ProBase. It is also possible to present the status of several objects such as pumps and valves in the other system using a special link.
